Amateur Photography Can Produce Perfect Images
By Jane Lovell
Amateur photography can be a series of quality images
that may look like they have been taken by a professional.
You can take advantage of photography tips to improve
the quality of your images. Using these tips will show
thought and care has been taken to ensure the images
are clean and each image has a story.
There may be an image of the family at a birthday party,
with the birthday girl sitting behind the cake, about
to blow out the candles. The next image should be the
girl blowing out the candles, a close up of her face
showing the strength of her breath pushing the little
flames on the candles.
The next image would be the image of the girl with
all the candles blown off and everyone clapping. This
series of clear and clean images tell a story. You can
look back at the images, a few years later, and see
the story of the birthday party in images.
Amateur Photography And Better Looking Images
Even amateur photography can employ certain techniques
to come up with better-looking photographs. For instance,
amateur photography can begin by using black and white
film since the effects are often visually arresting.
Most digital cameras have a black and white mode or
you also have the option of converting a color photograph
to monochrome using digital imaging software.
The best subjects for black and white amateur photography
are portraits since they can convey emotion, landscapes
as they are relatively easy to capture and textures
as they can be found almost anywhere. When taking black
and white photographs, you have to be aware of the different
gradations of gray that will be highlighted in these
shots.
Basic Tips For Quality Amateur Photography
Even if you are the official family photographer, amateur
photography need not be lacking in artistic sense and
visual style. When taking family portraits, you need
to get everyone comfortable and relaxed so that they
do not look stiff in the photographs.
Photos taken at eye level or below will always look
warm and inviting. Do not hesitate to focus on faces
instead of backgrounds in family photos, unless you
are on vacation and want the view behind you to be
captured.
Best Outdoors Amateur Photography
For outdoor amateur photography, it is best to schedule
a shoot during the early morning or early evening. During
midday, when the sun is at its brightest, photos tend
to look harsh and washed out.
While it is relatively easy to take photos of landscapes,
you can also look for interesting patterns on plants
and puddles of water outdoors that could make excellent
pictures as well.
Pet Photography
Amateur photography for pets can also be a fun exercise,
especially when you take photos of your dog or cat during
its favorite activity. Since pets are constantly moving,
you may want to increase your shutter speed to capture
the action.
If you want a still shot, a close-up will always work
best. The Portrait Mode in most digital cameras is ideal
for making the subject focused and the background slightly
blurry, an excellent function whether for people or
for your pets.
Family And Social Events
You can use the Portrait mode at family and social
events to highlight the special occasion. It may be
a graduation ceremony and you want to take an image
of the graduating college student with the graduating
certificate and graduation gown. This is a once in a
lifetime image. This is the day of graduation. You want
to ensure you capture the image of the graduating student
using Portrait mode on your camera.
There are times when you do not have time to adjust
little fiddly buttons on the camera, to get that perfect
image, but you can take a number of images to ensure
at least one of the images is perfect. You may be on
a trip and you need to be at a certain location by a
certain time and you do not have the time to ensure
you have the right shot.
Think quickly, about what you want the image to look
like, look through the lens to ensure you have the image
you want and then shoot a number of images. When you
are at the motel and winding down for a rest after a
long day on the road, you can review your images on
the digital camera.
Taking care and thinking about the images you want,
will push you ahead in amateur photography.
