Animation Competition To Showcase Your Skills
By Nikos L Maxwell
You may be surprised to learn that in the computer
industry, animation is a very popular medium. Most creators
and designers take their jobs very seriously, as is
evident in the type of animations that are being produced.
If you have never seen one, then you should know that
they take an animation competition very seriously as
well. It is amazing to see so many bright minds and
ideas on display at this type of event. There are many
levels of competition.
Some of these competitions have qualified entrants
from around the world selected on an individual basis,
as well as in teams. Usually, judges select the most
qualified from a "pool" of animations reels
that have been submitted.
Many Categories Of Animation
The categories are as varied as the industry itself,
with areas including cartoon animations, animations
flash, gif animations, animations backgrounds, animations
video and just about every other form of animation you
can imagine.
Many different programs, shows and new animations are
a result of an animation competition. Producers, backers
and a number of other people follow the competitions
regularly, to hopefully convince some new and upcoming
talent to jump on board with them.
Perhaps that is the way that cartoon animations broke
out of the "kids only" morning mode and came
up with shows appealing to adults as well. These include
shows like The Simpson’s, Family Guy and King of The
Hill, and all are doing very well in their prime time
slots.
Animation Competitions Showcase New Ideas And Techniques
Recently, several companies got together to combine
a few of their specialties of game development, film
rendering and interactive platforms and host a competition
of their own. This was a huge success and produced many
new animations, new ways to design computer animation,
along with several other techniques which were showcased
with the best of the best.
In another area of the competition contestants had
to create animations with a storyline about a pivotal
moment between an antagonist and a protagonist. There
were some really great results that should be showing
up on your tv screen fairly soon.
Computer Animation Competitions For Kids
If you have children, then you are likely aware that
computers have become an important part of their lives
and education. They are being integrated into school
subjects at younger ages all the time. Many companies
will host an animation competition for kids that are
very similar to the regular contests, but suited and
designed for children and their different ages and skill
levels.
It encourages them to use their imaginations, develop
some new skills and create some great new animations.
Who knows, maybe it will turn their love for computers
and all they can offer into a career some day.
