Baby Photo Contests Tips Help Increase Chance To Win
By Jane Lovell
If everyone is gushing over your fabulous baby photo
books, then you may want to consider entering your best
shots into baby photo contests. Advertisers are always
looking for adorable or unique looking babies to appear
in advertisements, so using a baby model contest to
garner interest is a good idea.
However, they are looking for very specific qualities
in the winning entries. In this article, we’ve got some
tips on how to make your baby girl photo or baby boy
photo the one judges will fall in love with.
Dedicating Time To Getting The Perfect Baby Photo
If you ask any photographer, he’ll tell you that taking
baby pictures can be a challenge. After all, babies
don’t smile on command! This means that you have to
be willing to dedicate time to getting that perfect
shot. Ideally, pick a location that is interesting and
comfortable for your child, like a park.
Be prepared with food, toys or a favorite blanket.
Going to someplace like a zoo where your child will
be exposed to things for the first time is a great opportunity
for photographs. Just imagine the expression on your
little angel’s face when he or she sees wild animals
for the first time!
Tips To Get That Perfect Image
Baby photography demands different camera tactics.
Your camera should have a high shutter speed to avoid
blurry shots. Digital cameras are preferable, but if
you’re using a film camera, then get one that loads
quickly and easily. Composition is very important.
Shooting at the eye level of you child makes the image
appear more enticing and expressive. Although close
ups are popular, full body photos can do well as long
as there aren’t distracting backgrounds and props. Judges
prefer shots that are natural and uncluttered so that
the baby’s personality shines through.
Judges Focus On Originality And Quality Of The Image
It’s important that you remember that contests for
baby photos are not beauty contests. Judges are not
looking for physical perfection. They usually focus
on originality and the quality of the photo. They also
evaluate the child’s expression, personality and the
overall impression of the photo.
A photo that elicits an immediate reaction is more
likely to get a judge’s attention, so look for wonderful,
spontaneous moments for not only a cute baby photo but
also for funny baby photos. For instance, perhaps your
baby bursts out laughing while playing with a pet or
is awestruck by a fabulous new toy. The more unique
your baby photo is, the better your chance of winning
a contest.
Judges Look For Unique Baby Photos
Baby photo contests usually accept studio photos but
they aren’t as popular as snapshots because most professional
baby photos use various props and backgrounds. Judges
want to see unique baby photos with tons of cute baby
personality! People often think that judges look for
heartwarming smiles, but that’s not the case. They love
photos with genuine emotion that could be sad, silly,
serious or surprised.
Most importantly, use the opportunity to have fun and
bond with your baby. That’s the greatest prize of all.
Try searching the internet for an online baby photo
contest.
