Best digital camcorder is the one that best meets your needs and requirements. If you need to shoot a video chronicle of your child from birth to a teenager, then you may not require an expensive video camcorder with all the latest bells and whistles.

If you need a professional digital camcorder to shoot video for customers who pay you for the work, then you will need the best digital camcorder money can buy.

Depending on the complexity of the video project, a lot of professionals end up hiring a lot of the equipment for a professional video shoot, especially when using a number of digital camcorders and all the lights, backgrounds and audio.

This takes me back to when I was looking to purchase my first digital camcorder.

When I got my first digital mini DV, I put a lot of research into it. I was determined to get the best digital camcorder. You see, I was an amateur filmmaker at the time, and thought that I was pretty hot stuff.

I made a few movies that were shown at local film festivals, and received fairly positive reviews. I did not realize that this didn’t mean very much. The world is filled with amateur film guys with local followings.

I thought that only the best digital camcorders would let me compete against the big name bullies – the main Hollywood studios.

I invested a fortune in the best digital camcorder I could find. It cost me more than 500 dollars, which in 1997 was a fortune.

I certainly didn’t have the kind of cash. Buying the best digital camcorder meant that I couldn’t get a new car. It meant that I would be strapped for rent that month. I didn’t care. Film was everything to me.

This was a sublime camcorder too. It wasn’t one of those digital optical zoom pieces of junk that you see all over the place. This thing worked like a real video camera.

It had a full set of adjustable lenses, the highest resolution available at the time, and the ability to do in camera editing. It really was the best digital camcorder that was on the market at the time.

The problem with the best digital camcorders is that all the thieves recognize them. They are hot items, to say the least.

Digital Camcorders Are In Demand

If you look at the best digital camcorder on the market today, you can probably find it for half its current price if you are willing to not ask any questions.

I’m not talking about buying it from some guy’s jacket on the street, either. There are pawn shops all over the place that have stolen digital camcorders available.

I think you know where this is going. My happiness with my camcorder could not last forever.

I was shooting what I thought would be the best movie with the best digital camcorder when tragedy struck. Someone came up to me and, flattering my ego, pretended to recognize me.

He started asking me about my films. Suddenly, his partner walked up behind me and grabbed the camcorder out of my hand. By the time I realized what was happening, they were both halfway down the block.

I have since learned to always have at least one person with me, whenever I am shooting, especially with an expensive digital camcorder. Always look at the neighbourhood before shooting, to see if there will be any security concerns.

If you are shooting in a dark alley, then you may be an easy target. If you are shooting in a shopping mall where there are lots of people around, you may still be a target, but if you always have a couple of people with you, then it would be more difficult for anyone to steal your digital camcorder.

Although my best digital camcorder was stolen years ago, I always keep my eyes and ears open. I do not want to be a victim the second time.
