Digital Camera Memory Card to Store Images with Your Digital Camera

By Cedric B Georges

Digital camera memory card is used to store images when using a digital camera. These days you can get larger memory cards when you can store 1GB(Gigabyte), 2GB and more of images.

If you are to go on a trip, its good to have a number of digital camera memory cards, so that you don’t run out of memory to store your images. I usually take 10 memory cards when I go on long trips.

Especially if you want to keep all your images, so that you can edit and manipulate them when you get to your computer. These images could be a preservation of exciting moments during your trip.

Life is full of surprises and special moments. We like to preserve these occasions as best we can. Probably the best and most convenient way to do this is with a camera.

While digital camcorders have come along way, most of us still prefer something a bit more compact. Thanks God for digital cameras. I can’t even begin to compare these pocket–size innovations to the old–school Polaroids. Talk about two different worlds!

Cannon Digital Elf

Around 2001 I purchased a digital camera from Best Buy. It was the current Cannon Digital Elf at the time. My wife and I fell in love with it in the store. Finally we wouldn’t have to deal with irksome film any longer.

It really is a cinch. It’s not too expensive to print out as many as you please. Now, back to the digital camera memory card. I say that this aspect of your picture–taking is crucial because it determines how many photos you can take and store at once.

Let’s say you have a 20 megabyte digital camera memory card. You’re not going to get many pictures out of this. Maybe 15. Originally you could consider 1 MB per photo, but technology has changed, like it always does.

Now the newer models of digital cameras have higher mega pixels. This is a good thing because it means crisper, clearer photographs. However, nicer pictures call for more space used on the digital camera memory card.

1GB Memory Cards Prices Coming Down

Now days I go for the 256 MG, or even better, a 1 gigabyte memory card. These will allow you to have much more freedom with your picture–taking. You won’t have to worry so much about downloading the photos to your PC or Mac before taking more pictures. Your card will have room for them.

The great news is the prices have gone down. Just like with all electronics, the prices plummet after something newer is released. So you can get a hefty memory card for your digital camera at a reasonable cost.

You can have lots of quality images on your card. If the memory runs out, you can always transfer the images to your computer and edit them.

When I transfer my images to my computer, I manipulate and edit them in Photoshop. For example, if it was images from a birthday party, I put some information about the birthday party when naming the images. I usually put the images in a photo gallery and place them on my website. I then send emails to my friends and relatives and ask them to comment on the images.

Quite often I get a quick response and they all seem to like my images.
