Digital Photo Sharing With Family And Friends
By George Goodall Jnr
Digital photo sharing to highlight events in your family
history, is one of the most common usage of digital
images today. It may be the birth of a child, a wedding,
a childrens’ birthday party or even a housewarming.
Any family social event.
It may be a corporate event announcing the launch of
a new product. You can send an email with a link to
the website, showing the product for your employees
and clients to view.
The web has made it easy to view digital images with
digital photo sharing.
Digital Photos Online
I hate to brag, but I was using digital cameras long
before they were cool. Back in the day, resolution was
low unless you were willing to spend a lot of money.
Once you took your photos, things were even more bleak.
Printing digital photos was expensive, and getting
high quality printers was out of the question for most
consumers. The only real way to share digital photos
was by uploading online. Because most people were using
dial-up, you had to load all of your photos onto a site
where other people would have to download them at a
painfully slow speed if they wanted to view them.
Digital Photo Sharing Has Advanced
Nowadays, even cheap digital cameras are much more
powerful than what I was using when I was first getting
started. Digital photo sharing has also gotten a lot
more powerful. It still amazes me to be able to open
up a website and see high a quality digital photo suddenly
appear on the page with no effort on my part.
I don’t have to spend 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or longer
downloading it anymore. It is simply there for me to
see. Digital photos sharing sites have gotten pretty
sophisticated in their interface as well. There are
so many different ways to organize your digital images
online that designing a webpage has become half of the
art itself!
Digital Photo Sharing Sites
Recently, I have made use of many different digital
photo sharing sites. Perhaps the easiest one to use
is MySpace. A lot of people don’t really think of it
as a digital photo sharing site, as this is not its
primary purpose. Nonetheless, it works quite well for
my purposes. You can put dozens of pictures on your
MySpace page, and your friends can see thumbnails of
them and download any that they wish to.
Of course, if you have a lot of images to share, you
should probably find a more dedicated digital photo
sharing site. All of these sites will allow you to show
dozens, or even hundreds of images, but some of them
have other nifty features as well.
For example, some of them allow you to connect your
pictures to a map of the world, text bubbles, or various
websites as you see fit. Other ones allow you to give
out a free trial image, but make a more high quality
image available for purchase.
Of course, other Digital photo sharing sites stand
out for being extremely easy to use. If your parents
are like mine, those are the best sites to place your
family photos.
Family Websites
These days, with web templates, it is is easy to create
a family website and place all your family images, videos
and audio. You can even have a blog where comments can
be placed for people to respond to your family images.
You may have had an important family event, like a wedding
and you want everyone to see the images from the wedding,
especially those who live far away and could not come
to the wedding.
You can upload the digital images, short video clips
to the website and all your friends and relatives will
feel they were part of the event, even though they may
have not been able to attend. You can send out an email
with a link to the website, to announce the availability
of the images on the website.
It may be a perfect way to enhance family relationships
with digital photo sharing.

More Photography Facts....
What types of cameras are commonly used in wedding
photography?
There are three main types of cameras
used in wedding photography. They are 35mm cameras,
digital cameras, and medium format cameras. In this
digital age, 35mm is still a widely used camera for
wedding photography. These are used mainly for fast
action wedding shots. They are valued for their durability,
compactness, and ease of use.
Digital cameras have become much more popular, even
preferred for wedding photography. The quality of photos
is just good as film, there is no processing time, no
risk of damaging negatives, and photos can easily be
adjusted for a better outcome. Medium Format cameras
produce a negative that is up to three times larger
than one from a 35mm camera, without a loss of detail.
However, Medium Format cameras are much larger than
35mm’s and digital cameras.
A fourth type of camera that may be used in a studio
for a pre-wedding shot is a Large Format camera. These
cameras are stationary due to their size and weight.
They are mainly used for commercial studio photography.
Although these cameras hold an excellent lens, the prices
for photos taken with this camera can be quite pricey.
