Digital Picture Frame Displays Your Images And Movie Clips

By George Goodall Jnr

The digital picture frame is like a mix of the traditional photo frame and a computer display screen. This frame does look like a traditional frame but instead of displaying a printed picture it will display your digital images on an LCD screen.

The biggest advantage of a digital frame is that you can easily run a slideshow that can incorporate many of your favorite pictures instead of displaying only a single photo. Digital frames are really just basic, simple computers that have been designed for only one task, which is to display pictures that you have taken with a digital camera.

Your Images On An LCD Screen

The pictures can be uploaded to an LCD photo frame in several ways, including directly from your digital camera, through a memory card, over a wireless network, from a computer or even over the Internet. These frames are operated by following an on screen menu and hardware buttons.

The price of a digital picture frame becomes more and more expensive as the display screen gets bigger. To give you an idea of the sizes available, laptop screens are generally between 12 and 18 inches, yet the most common size for a digital frame will be much smaller than that. You can also find screens that are big as a flat-screen TV but generally they are between 7 to 10 inches.

Improved Resolution

Resolution obviously plays a big part when it comes to an LCD digital picture frame, as it determines the quality of the photo. When the LCD’s first came out they had inadequate resolution that resulted in bad picture quality. Now most of the newer ones have the same resolution that is found on computer screens.

It is important to make sure that your digital picture frame is compatible with the memory card that you want to use. Most of the SD cards are supported by all digital frames but make sure before you purchase one.

Watch Movie Clips

The file formats are equally important because JPEG files are compatible with all frames; however, only the more expensive frames may offer additional formats. An LCD digital photo frame may also be compatible with different video and audio formats, allowing you to listen to music or watch some movie clips.

There are some digital frames that are wireless and are capable of connecting to a wireless network that will then connect to the web or your computer. Many are also compatible with sites such as www.flickr.com and www.photobucket.com, which will allow you to share your pictures.

More Digital Frames Facts....

What types of picture frames can I choose from?
There are many different types of picture frames on the market these days. You can go for a simple, yet elegant, mahogany frame that will enhance any picture that you place inside. Or for a more modern feel a metal frame is a great choice.

You can even buy a very ornate frame that is designed with intricate scroll work if you want to make the picture stand out wherever you place it. When you chose your picture frame, keep in mind the picture or art work that is going inside. You do not want something that is going to take away from the picture. The idea is to protect and enhance the image, not to detract from it.
