Family Web Site To Communicate With All Family Members And Friends

By Sylvia Adolvana

Family web site is a fun activity for family members and friends to interact and communicate online, who otherwise find it difficult to be together all the time.

One family member may be living in another city, another family member may be in another state or even overseas. To communicate with each other and keep up to date on family events, you can do so on a family web site.

There are a number of options you can have on a family web site. It can be a private family web site with password access only. It can be a public family website, where anyone can access, but you can have hidden password protected areas within the site.

A lot of family sites are fairly basic and do not involve too many complications like private access areas. They may have a few images of family members, with a brief history about the family, a small number of short videos, maybe access to a few online games and some chatting facilities. A lot of these facilities are dependent on budget limitations and host bandwidth allowances.

A Lon Long Time Ago

Many years ago, families lived close together. When children grew up and started their own families they moved into a home in the same town or just down the road. Unfortunately, it is rarely like that today.

Families are often spread apart and the physical distance can make it difficult to keep in touch. Geography can make it difficult for families to stay connected. That is why I like to keep a family web site.

A family web site is easier to build than one might think. Even someone who has no knowledge of web design can build a simple web site.

Anyone Can Have A Family Web Site

Thanks to web builders and free templates, anyone can have a web site that is beautiful and fun to look at and easy to put together all at the same time. There is essentially no programming involved so everyone in the family can be involved.

There are many web site hosts that are great for anyone who wishes to have their very own family web site. Each has different features so it is worth taking some time to explore your options.

Many web hosts can be found that offer either free or very low cost hosting. They have different templates and backgrounds that you can use to make your own web site unique and pleasing to the eye.

Web Site Can Be Private Or Public

Your family web site can be a place where you can preserve special memories and stay in touch with loved ones. You can allow it to be public or you can use a password so that only those you allow to see it can have access to your family information.

You can decide if you are going to post photos (uploading pictures is a very simple task with most web builders), family news, or keep a family blog. No matter where your family lives, they can all feel closer to you where ever they have access to the internet.

Fun Family Activity

A family web site can also be fun family activity. Children as young as five or six can have their own page on the site where they can tell other family members what they are learning in school and who’s birthday part was best.

Teenagers love the computer and they will quite likely enjoy teaching mom or dad a thing or two. As each family member takes time to share their view of events, it can bring your family closer together – family members that live far away and the family members that live in your own home. In this day and age that is a very good thing.

Once the family web site is set up, you can add a number of options to be available to visitors. You may include chatting facilities, a guest book, email contact, music, a picture gallery, short videos. All these facilities depend on available space that has been allocated for your website on the server, so check with your webhost to see if you can set upl these facilities on your website.

You should also confirm any bandwidth and traffic limits. If there are any limits, then you may have to pay extra fees if you exceed those limits and your hosting fees for your family web site could skyrocket. So be careful and keep an eye on your hosting fees.

Once you have confirmed all your limitations, then you can go and have fun on your family web site.
