Greeting Card To Bring Friendly Cheer

By Sylvia Adolvana

In the past, many people only sent out a greeting card at Christmas or on someone’s birthday, yet today you have so many more choices and ways of expressing your sentiments. You can send greetings and best wishes for anniversaries, starting a new job or moving into a new home or for no reason at all.

This is a far cry from the 1800s when only the wealthy were able to send homemade cards because they were fairly expensive; that is until the onset of commercial printing and the invention of the postage stamp.

Of course, this is not to imply that handmade birthday cards are not appreciated, as we all know they are, especially the ones that children make for their moms. It just means that it is much easier to find and send cards these days, thus making it quicker to spread the good will around.

Hand Making Greeting Cards

There are many people who really enjoy hand making their greeting cards and thanks to the increase in craft supply outlets, there are designs and materials available that were not available just a short time ago.

You do not have to be overly creative to make your own greeting card, as you can review your options and choose themes and designs that appeal to you and then follow along just like you would follow directions for putting together a scrap book. Your recipient will be glad that you took the time to personalize their birthday greeting.

Sending Electronic Greeting Online

Of course, with the increase in technological advances, the internet is another way to get that "happy birthday to you" out to your friends and family. It seems like new sites are popping up on a daily basis offering either ideas on how to state your sentiment or even get your greeting out there by sending electronic greeting or e cards.

If you have never done this, then open your favorite search engine and just type in free greeting cards, then sit back and watch the amazing number of sites that are returned. There is a greeting card that expresses pretty much any sentiment that you can think of on the web and many of them are free.

However, you do need to check them carefully as some say they are free but you must also agree to accept their advertising along with the e card greeting. As well, other sites do have ones that are free to send but sometimes there is a very limited selection and to get more you have to join and become a member to have access to the best cards.

More Crafts Ideas....

You have probably heard the statement that the most heartfelt gifts are those created by your own hand. Parents know this. They look forward to those scribbles from their toddlers. It is a sign that someone took the time out of their day to do something for you. You were in their thoughts.

If you want to give a more personal gift to someone you love, doing a craft may be the best idea. Most crafts are surprisingly easy and there are tons of reliable sources to find all the projects that you could possibly want.
