Image Editor Software - Essential Tool For Editing Your Digital Photos

By Cedric B Georges

Image editor software is used to adjust images taken with your digital camera. You can add text, manipulate the image, take out bits of the image, add bits from other images. The world is your oyster.

Once I got my digital camera, I became crazy when taking pictures. I have always loved to take pictures, but now that I have a digital camera, I can take even more than ever.

This does not mean that all of my pictures come out as I wish them to be, but it does mean that I have more power over the end result.

I use image editor software to crop and resize many of my pictures. This means that even a bad shot can be turned into something worth saving.

This is something I could never do when I used film, though there are times when I still prefer to use my film camera.

Default image editor

Most computers today will come with image editor software included. The problem with most of the software however, is that it doesn’t do very much.

It may resize or allow you to crop your pictures, but there are many other features you may wish to have.

Good image editor

If you want good image editor software you may have to go out and buy it for yourself. Though it can be quite pricey for the best software, if you take a lot of pictures and want to do a lot of things with them, it will be well worth the price.

Adobe Photoshop Elements

The image editor software that I use right now is Adobe Photoshop Elements. I got it with my camera, so it was included with the cost of my digital camera at the camera store. It does pretty much everything I need it to do.

Photoshop Elements is a consumer version of the full Photoshop. Buying Photoshop can cost up to $2,000, while Photoshop Elements was included as part of the cost of my digital camera. I have seen Photoshop Elements at a computer shop for a couple hundred dollars. Big difference in price!

Many of the shots I take at home come out just fine, but when I am away from home traveling, or at a concert, many of my shots need to be fixed and manipulated in order to be saved.

Full version of Photoshop

Another popular type of image editor software is the full version of Adobe Photoshop. I now use Photoshop all the time, and I have found it to be great.

Photoshop is used by almost all professional photographers and if I need something more complex to be done to the images I have taken with my digital camera, then I use the full version of Photoshop.

The full version allows for more complex manipulation and editing of the images and has lots of plug-ins and actions available to make the images more interesting.

Photoshop Plug-ins

Plug-ins allow you to add lots of special effects to the images and allow further manipulation of the image.

Actions automate a lot of the processes in Photoshop.

For example, if you had a series of images and you wanted to do the same changes to all the images, rather than editing individual images you could do edit them all together using actions. Avoids endless repetition.

A lot of the actions and plug-ins for Photoshop are available at the adobe website.
