Light Microscope Is Ideal For Beginners
By Cedric B Georges
Using a light microscope can be a simple task; however,
these types of microscopes have been used for many years
to see items that were once thought invisible.
Even though technology has helped to make the world
of microscopy expand exponentially, light source scopes
are still the most popular and surely the beginning
scopes that most people started out using.
Understanding these types of microscopes can help a
person better know how a magnifying instrument is used
and how far they have really come since the beginning.
The Bright Field Microscope
One of the most popular types of a light microscope
is that of the bright field microscope. These are the
most popular in most schools. A bright field microscope
aims light through the specimen into the eyepiece, in
order to view the objects on the microscope slides.
A student can then use the coarse or fine knobs to
adjust their field of view. Unfortunately, these are
limited light microscopes and can sometimes distort
the image as soon as one begins to see it clearly.
Cells And Pond Water Through A Dark Field Microscope
Another type of light microscopes that can be found
in many labs is that of the dark field. These microscopes
are great for viewing objects that would otherwise seem
distorted with a bright field scope, such as cells and
pond water.
The small metazoans can easily be seen and distinguished
when using this type of scope. The light is reflected
by particles on the microscope slide. This allows for
a more in depth study at a small cost compared to a
scanning electron microscope.
Light Microscopes Continues To Be Used In Schools And Labs
A light microscope can make viewing objects fun and
exciting for most. However, understanding which type
of light microscopes to choose can be the hard task.
If one does their research, then they can learn all
they want about these great microscopes and their many
uses.
In school, we all started out on light microscopes
and even high tech labs still use these links to the
past. Microscopy has come a long way, but the old standards
are sometimes still the best.

More Microscope Facts....
Microscopes are responsible for most of the world’s
major breakthroughs. If it were not for these devices
the world would not be the place it is today. Medical
research would grind to a halt.
Advancements in computer technology would cease to
function and even studying the human body and cells
would be no more. The microscope is one of the most
important inventions of all time.
You do not have to own a microscope to know the importance
of that fact. But should you wish to own one, there
are places you can turn to.
