Linksys Media Center Extender Is A Fully Functional HD Media Player

By Nikos L Maxwell

Linksys is known for its wireless modems and routers but now you can count on the folks at Linksys for more than just your networking needs. With the new Linksys Media Center Extender you have the capability of having a fully functioning HD media player that incorporates into your wireless network easily and efficiently.

Windows Media Center is great on your computer. You can use it to play music or video files. Now with the Media Center Extender you can access your Windows Media Center from your television. With so many great options available, you would be insane not to check this HD media player out.

Designed To Work On A Wireless Network

The beauty behind the Linksys Media Center Extender is that it is designed to work on a wireless network. All of the product specs show the Media Center Extender being used with a Linksys wireless router but as long as you have a wireless router that is on the same technology wavelength as the Extender, then you should be good to go. All you have to do at that point is connect and access the files on your computer through the wireless router. The files will then be shown on your television.

With the Media Center Extender (DMA2100) you have the capability of watching live television shows and recording them. You do not need a DVR with this device. You can also integrate the DMA2100 with your surround sound stereo equipment to ensure crisp, clear sound that will be envied by everyone who visits. You can download movies, stream movies live from the internet and with its Dual-N capability, and you can do so with a blazing fast connection speed.

Require Windows Vista Premium or Ultimate PC

There is a downside to the Media Center Extender. If you do not have Windows Vista Premium or Ultimate PC, then you are out of luck with this multimedia player.

The reasoning behind this is the technology and capabilities that Premium and Ultimate PC have to offer when it comes to Microsoft’s Media Center. If you have an older model computer that does not have the technology to run these platforms, then this HD media player is not the one for you.

A New Product On The Market

The Linksys Media Center Extender is a new product on the market and it offers more capabilities than some of the other older models of HD media players that are still being sold. As such you should expect to pay for the product.

The suggested retail price is over $300 but you can find it for much cheaper if you visit places such as www.amazon.com or www.antonline.com. Setting it up is as easy as plugging in and running the software.
