Photo Enhancement - Tools To Adjust Your Digital Images

By Sylvia Adolvana

Photo enhancement software are the tools you need to adjust and edit your images.

If your images need repair, or you want to the make changes to the images, for example, change the contrast, adjust the colours, add text to the image, take out the red eye in a portrait, then you can use these tools to edit the images to your satisfaction.

Some of these tools are quite inexpensive and often come bundled when you buy a new digital camera. Make sure you ask details of the software supplied when you buy your next digital camera.

Now that digital cameras are very popular, it is easier than ever to fix what is wrong. There are many things that can go wrong in a photograph, but when you use film, you almost have to put up with the flaws.

If you use digital, photo enhancement is easier than ever. You may be able to scan your film photographs into your computer so that you may fix these as well.

Sometimes, it only takes a few clicks of a mouse to change a horrible photograph into something you can save.

In order to do photo enhancement, you will need to have good photo software. You can buy whatever kind you like, and many of them do the same things.

Once you buy and install your software, you can probably learn to do what for what you need rather quickly. Most of the software is easy to use and very self-explanatory. The more you play around with it the more you will learn.

Fixing Red Eye

One of the most common photo enhancement need is fixing redeye. I know that my digital camera has a redeye setting, but it also delays the picture for three or four seconds.

When I am taking photographs, the last thing I want is to click the shutter button and have to wait four seconds before the picture is taken. This often means you miss many wonderful moments.

Instead, you can use your software for photo enhancement to fix redeye in any of your pictures. Though it will not work in every picture, you will find it works very well for most.

Adjusting colours and light

Other types of photo enhancement might be fixing color, or lightening up a dark picture. You may also be able to crop out elements of the picture that you do not want, or change their size for publishing to a web site.

If you get really good at using your photo software, you can blend elements of pictures together to make one picture.

This is often a lot of fun. There are many other photo enhancement things that you can do, and if you can scan your old film pictures into your computer, you may be able to make old pictures look new again.

Adobe Photoshop Elements

One of the current popular photo enhancement software is Photoshop Elements and is ideal for consumer level editing. It quite often comes as bundled with digital equipment such as scanner and digital cameras. Once you buy the digital camera, there is no additional cost for the software as it is included in the cost of the digital camera.

Professional level photo enhancement is with the full version of Photoshop and is the software I use for adjusting any of my images. I can add special effects to my images, change colours, add text, add bits of other images. The possibilities are endless.

I use Photoshop every day for all my image enhancement and manipulation. It is beyond compare.
