Pictures Of Hummingbirds In Flight
By Cedric B Georges
Pictures of hummingbirds can be found online, in books
and magazines. You can also take your own images of
hummingbirds, if you have a digital camera. You can
use a small digital camera with a zoom and a flash,
or more preferably a DSLR camera with a zoom, flash
and a tripod.
If you see hummingbirds in your area, you can attract
them to your yard with a hummingbird birdfeeder. Once
you notice the birds feeding from your birdfeeder, you
can arrange your camera and equipment to take pictures
of hummingbirds in flight.
You can then place these images on your website, for
the world to see. You may even compare your images with
images taken by other photographers.
Delightful To The Eye Of The Viewer
Pictures of hummingbirds are nothing less that charming.
These images are delightful to the eye and many of them
really detail the amazing little creatures. This is
especially true if the bird is in motion as the camera
is clicked. You can find many wonderful pictures of
hummingbirds in a number of places or you can opt to
create your own.
Occasionally, you can find pictures of hummingbirds
in arts and crafts stores. These designs come in an
array of sizes and colors but the selection is commonly
limited. There are times when you will not find any
humming bird images at all through this source.
Looking For A Wider Choice Of Images Online
Some art suppliers will find great images for you to
use but you usually have a pretty long wait with relatively
little choice. Finding pictures of hummingbirds in traditional
places like art stores and retail chains is pretty hit-or-miss.
You will probably find a very limited selection and
if color and design is important to you then you may
want to look to the Internet.
I found many lovely images of these breathtaking birds
online. The Internet is a seemingly endless source of
inspiration for people who love looking at hummingbird
pictures. There are even sites that offer duty-free
images that you can download and enjoy at no cost.
Buying Images Online
Other sites charge for the pictures of hummingbirds
but these images are well worth the investment. You
have a large number of choices and you can find photographs
that are in the style and colors that you are after.
The Internet is the ideal shopping source for these
kinds of products.
There are those who prefer to be a little more involved
in creating the photographs. Taking pictures of hummingbirds
isn’t really as difficult as you may think. Even a novice
photographer can capture a great shot of these friendly,
hungry birds.
Using Flash And A Birdfeeder
A well-stocked birdfeeder is the ideal start for capturing
some great images. It is commonly recommended that you
use a flash even when outdoors. The flash of light will
help freeze the image in a moment in time. You can expect
to wait for the birds to eat but they usually show up
in relatively little time.
Patience is necessary when working with a hobby like
photography. However, pictures of hummingbirds are ideal
starting points because these creatures eat readily
and they eat frequently. They have to. How else can
they keep going so fast?
Setting Up Your Equipment
When you are setting up your camera, it would be ideal
to use a DSLR camera with an attached flash, in order
to get the quality image. You can keep your distance
by using a zoom lens, and hide behind a tree or a small
bush, so that the hummingbird is not frightened by your
presence. Once you can see the hummingbird in the viewfinder,
test your flash to ensure there is enough flash to cover
the area.
The amount of flash should be set quite low so the
background is not dark. The ideal flash, should be set
to manual, as automatic flash often returns a dark background,
especially when you are at a distance from the bird.
So, you should try and get close to the bird, but not
too close to frighten the hummingbird away.
The secret to your success is to take the time, to
set up your equipment and then patience with taking
better pictures of hummingbirds.
