Plastic Picture Frames For Your Family Photos

By George Goodall Jnr

Plastic picture frames can hold and display your printed images. You may place your images on a wall, above the fireplace or next to the bed. You can look at placing a series of printed images in the family room. The plastic picture frames protect the images against damage and are easier to place in a specific location.

You can place printed images in a family photo album, but every visitor to your home can see your best family images on the walls of your home. You may place some images in the corridor, bedrooms, lounge room and dining room.

You can place the smaller images in plastic picture frames, while the large images can be placed in metallic, wooden or glass picture frames. If you spend a small fortune for the large printed image, then you can spend a little more and look for quality wood, metal or glass frames.

Love The Look Of Glass

There has always been something about glass that I like. Perhaps it’s just a huge coincidence, and I live near the Corning Museum of Glass. Because I love the look of glass so much, I love to go to this museum and look around.

I don’t know what it is about glass, but I love the look of it so much that I have it all over my home. As much as I’d like the look of glass, it is not always practical. Having a five-year-old in my home means that I have to make some sacrifices. One of these has been that I have purchased plastic picture frames in the last few years.

Beautiful Plastic Picture Frames

It’s not as big a sacrifice as I thought it would be. I was surprised to find that there are many beautiful plastic picture frames out there that look almost as good as glass. I have also found that they are a little less expensive, and have the added bonus of not breaking when they drop.

The only thing I don’t like about plastic picture frames is that the plastic piece over the photo is not quite as clear as glass might be. A clean piece of glass should be completely transparent, where as the plastic is always a little visible.

If you have young children in your home like I do, you may want to buy plastic picture frames as well. The great thing about these is that they are becoming more and more popular, and you can find almost anything you are looking for.

Plastic Is Safer Than Glass

You can find plastic picture frames were you buy other types of picture frames, and you may even find that some of them look better than the glass versions. Best of all, if these are knocked over, you don’t have to worry about glass shattering all over your floor.

However, no matter how good plastic picture frames become, I will not use them forever. Once my daughter is old enough to restrain herself a little more, I will probably start buying glass frames again.

I don’t know what I will do with all of my old plastic picture frames, but perhaps that will give them to her to use in her bedroom. While they are improving, and look a lot better than they used to, there is still nothing quite as beautiful as glass frames. Perhaps it is how the sunlight catches them, or perhaps it is just habit.

Shopping For Plastic Picture Frames

You can buy plastic picture frames online or visit a retail store like Wal Mart or a photography supply store. I buy mine from a store where I buy my new digital cameras.

When shopping for plastic picture frames, you may notice the larger variety of designs. Some look like wood, others have plastic flower designs to hold the printed image. There seems to be a larger variety of design, than the more expensive wooden or glass picture frames.

If you have a large image you want to place on the wall, then you should get a wooden picture frame, but if you want to place a small image next to your bed and you do not want your children to injure themselves if they play with the image, then you should use plastic picture frames.

More Photography Facts....

What types of cameras are commonly used in wedding photography?
There are three main types of cameras used in wedding photography. They are 35mm cameras, digital cameras, and medium format cameras. In this digital age, 35mm is still a widely used camera for wedding photography. These are used mainly for fast action wedding shots. They are valued for their durability, compactness, and ease of use.

Digital cameras have become much more popular, even preferred for wedding photography. The quality of photos is just good as film, there is no processing time, no risk of damaging negatives, and photos can easily be adjusted for a better outcome. Medium Format cameras produce a negative that is up to three times larger than one from a 35mm camera, without a loss of detail. However, Medium Format cameras are much larger than 35mm’s and digital cameras.

A fourth type of camera that may be used in a studio for a pre-wedding shot is a Large Format camera. These cameras are stationary due to their size and weight. They are mainly used for commercial studio photography. Although these cameras hold an excellent lens, the prices for photos taken with this camera can be quite pricey.
