Portrait From Photo Images For A Personalized Gift
By Louis Myrandle
Portrait from photo is a popular option these days.
There are many artists who can create a fascinating
portrait from photos. All you need is to supply a series
of images and indicate the look of the final portrait
to the artist, settle on an estimated price, before
you commission the work.
As an example, you may be looking to provide a portrait
to your wife on your wedding anniversary. You can take
a few images in her favourite environment, telling a
story about her life.
A Portrait Telling A Story
She may be a high powered executive, so you can look
at taking images in her office. You may even take images
of her away from the office, when she is not under the
pressure of having to make executive decisions, in a
more relaxing environment, at home or on vacation.
These are some of the ideas you can use to make portrait
images to be used to create a portrait from photo.
A Surprise Gift Of A Portrait
Trying to find a very unique and special gift for someone
can be a real challenge. Although you can always buy
them something engraved or a one-of-a-kind item, depending
on the individual, it may not seem quite right.
A wonderful gift that everyone appreciates is a portrait.
It may be of someone they adore, a beloved pet or even
a portrait of them. With a portrait from photo artist
you can have this done without having to arrange for
them to pose, so it is truly a surprise.
Graduating From College
Art is undeniably a very lovely present to offer to
anyone regardless of the occasion. Imagine giving a
portrait from photo to a couple celebrating their silver
anniversary. The portrait could be a recreation of their
wedding day or perhaps a more recent image.
Another person in your life may be graduating from
college so having a portrait from photo created that
reflects how they looked in grammar or middle school
is a fantastic gesture.
Finding Artists With Samples Of Their Work Online
Finding an artist who works in this medium used to
be much more difficult than it is now. With all the
available resources on the Internet you are likely to
find someone who can create a portrait from photo. Although
you may feel more comfortable with someone in your local
area, unfortunately you may not find someone close whose
work you appreciate.
Most individuals who do this type of work and advertise
online have websites that feature samples of their work.
You are likely to see several different examples of
portrait from photo subjects.
Ask For A Written Estimated Cost Before Commissioning
The Work
Generally this consists of side-by-side images of the
original photo and the portrait that was created from
it. From this you can get a great sense of how similar
the two images look and if this may be a portrait from
photo artist you want to work with.
If it is, get an estimate of how much you should expect
to pay for the portrait you commission. You’ll need
to share with the artist your original photo as well
as how large you want the finished portrait to be.
An Oil Painting Or A Charcoal Drawing?
There is also the matter of what medium you’d like
the portrait from photo to be created with. Perhaps
you want a striking, rich oil painting or you feel a
simple charcoal drawing would better suit the image.
Sign an agreement with the individual who takes on
this work for you so the agreed upon costs are adhered
to. You will likely be required to supply a deposit
for the portrait from photo before work will be started.
Once it’s completed you’ll be able to present it to
someone special and enjoy their reaction.
A Portrait For Your Father
The portrait may be a surprise gift to your father.
You may have taken an image of him in his favourite
environment and used that image for a portrait to be
created. The portrait can be given on Christmas Day
to show your appreciation of the efforts he has made
to help you through your life.
If you are looking for ideas to create a portrait from
photos, you need to look at the story of the person
in the photo. For example, if the person is a gardener,
and loves to work in the garden every day, then you
should take a number of images of him in his garden.
His image should dominate the photo, but still able
to see aspects of his garden, when the eye wonders to
other parts of the photo.
Look At Professional Portraits To Get Ideas
To get more ideas, you should look at professional
work from portrait photographers, where you can see
the ideas they use to create portraits to satisfy the
customer. You can find many of these images online and
in photography books.
Using these ideas, you can include your own ideas to
create interesting images to use when creating a portrait
from photo.

Do I get to keep the negatives from my wedding?
Legally, the copyrights to photos
taken on your wedding day belong to the photographer
when they are created. It is illegal to copy or
reproduce copyrighted material without authorization
from the owner of the copyright.
Many photographers choose to keep the proofs or negatives
because they wish to maintain their control of, and
protect the photos they have taken. This enables photographers
to charge extra if additional prints are requested.
Yet many wedding photographers do not consider selling
photographs, and are more than willing to hand over
any negatives.
Each photo studio will have different policies regarding
who retains the rights to the negatives and proofs.
Some studios also like to keep negatives for people
just in case original negatives have been lost or damaged.
