Slide Shows - An Online Presentation

Slide shows present a sequence of images to tell a
story. For example, a slide show may detail the history
of photography in a presentation format. Another may
show the fun and frivolity of party pictures.
The slide shows are placed online on websites like
My Space and Squidoo. Then the world can look at your
images and you get immediate feedback.
I entered the world of Myspace rather timidly. It seemed
to be a world made for those who were younger than me.
I had a lot of friends urging me to sign up though,
so I went ahead and did it.
I don’t spend a lot of time there, but I do go on occasion
to visit those friends. What I have noticed is that
Myspace seems to change each day, and there are more
and more things you can add to your page if you wish
to do so.
One thing that many seem to be getting in record numbers
are slide shows.
I got one of these myself, and I have to admit that
it was a lot of fun. You can make slide shows with any
picture you have on your computer. You may also use
pictures from your online collections.
You can tell a lot about a person from watching their
slide shows. Many moms have a lot of pictures of their
children, and the single people tend to have a lot of
party pictures.
Slide shows can be done online
These slide shows are very easy to make. There are
a few different websites that help you put them together,
and then give you the code to put into your page. It’s
very simple.
Even those who have limited experience with using photos
and code online can do it. You can even go back at a
later date and update your slide shows by taking away
or adding new photos.
A slideshow of your professional work
You might even make a show of your photographs if you
are a professional photographer. There are many who
use Myspace for commercial reasons, and there is no
reason why you can’t do so as well. Just make sure you
read the terms of service carefully before you begin.
One problem with these slide shows is that they will
effect the way your page loads for those who come to
see you. If they have a slow connection, it might take
a while for your pictures up load and move around for
them.
If I could do anything to make these better, I would
suggest they have a stop button, much like many of the
music players people use on Myspace.
That would be great for those who don’t want to wait
forever for the page to load. Other than that, slide
shows are definitely a lot of fun.
Online slide shows can even be used to show a family
history or a topic of interest to visitors to your site.
For example, you may have a sequence of images that
shows the history of photography. From the early grainy
black and white images to the clear digital images of
today.
These slide shows can be used to educate your visitors
about the past and present of any number of topics.
Just ensure you do not place too many images on the
slide show, or it will take too long to download or
stream on someones computer.
Think of the comfort of your visitors and you do not
want their computer screens freezing cause the slide
show presentation is too large.
As a solution, if you have lots of images, you can change the images every few days on your slide show.
