Subliminal Video Promoting Your Products

By Sylvia Adolvana

Let’s begin at the best place to start; the beginning. In 1956, the whole idea of subliminal messaging began with the famous cinema experiment conducted by James Vicary. He claimed to have influenced movie-goer’s buying habits with the use of subliminal video he had placed into the movie reels.

Using this example is quite pointless now, because in 1962, Vicary came forward and admitted that he had fabricated the whole experiment. Not only did he falsify the results, but the entire "mind control" experiment was a hoax.

What about subliminal Cd and MP3 tapes? They must work, right? Actually the evidence that supports subliminal audio tapes is even less conclusive than for subliminal video ads.

Listening To Personal Development Messages

One specific experiment involved participants who listened to personal development messages for thirty days, and at the end of thirty days their progress was reviewed. It was concluded that there was no real difference in the individual’s attitudes or behaviors.

It appears that the results for audio messages tend to mirror those for video. There is not much more evidence that subliminal messages in any form actually do what they say they can do, and yet the companies and sales people still try to make you think otherwise.

Clear Guidelines For Successful Subliminal Advertising

Of course there have been some positive results, so what about those? It’s not all smoke and mirrors or even doom and gloom for sublimated messaging. There have been a few small experiments that have yielded positive results, but there are some clear guidelines on how to be successful when targeting subliminal messages to consumers.

It is the meaning in the message that is important and should be limited to just a single word. Phrases, sentences and complex statements are simply lost; a repeating image or word is the most effective.

Targeting Attitude Of Consumer

The biggest influence on an individual is not the subliminal message itself, but the attitude of the consumer. It has been found that subliminal messages that target a person’s current state are much more effective than general messages.

An example would be someone who is thirsty. This person will be more influenced by a message for a drink than someone who isn’t thirsty at all. What this means is that if you are already mentally prepared for success, then self-help sublimated video and audio messages will work.

Fast And Brief Messages

Unconscious messages exploit the idea that our mind can process a lot more information than we truly understand. If you are watching a subliminal video that contains these messages, then chances are that the message will only appear for a brief time.

This means that the messages will only be visible on screen for a fraction or two of a second. They are fast enough for our subconscious mind to notice them, but far too quick for the conscious mind to notice them at all.

More Subliminal Facts....

What are subliminals?
Subliminals are messages that are embedded into other forms of media. It may be in a advertisement, a movie or even on a soundtrack. The idea of the subliminal message is that it is supposed to go unnoticed by your conscious mind and be seen or heard by your unconscious mind.

Then later when you went to the store or were doing something that message supposedly influenced you. It could influence you either positively or even negatively. There has always been a huge amount of controversy around the idea of subliminal advertising or messages.

People do not want to think that they are being unduly influenced to gravitate towards a specific thought or product. But the reality is that subliminal advertising is in use every single time a commercial comes on or anyone reads a magazine.
