Video Production Courses Increase Your Knowledge
By Cedric B Georges
Video production courses are available to increase
your knowledge of production techniques and enhance
your career. You may start in a low level position in
a video company and then move on to higher levels of
the company over a period of time. One day you are working
in the mail room, a year later you are editing a video
movie. This could be your road to success in a video
production company.
There are different aspects of video production that
may appeal to you. These could include animation, special
effects, editing, directing, producing, lighting and
more.
Your starting point is to increase your knowledge and
this may be achieved with a video production course.
Video Production In College
It was so long ago when I went to college for video
production that I am no longer in the loop and would
have no idea what I was doing. Though the basics are
with me, and I use them a lot when taking photographs
and taping my daughter, the new equipment that professionals
use would be foreign to me now.
Though my career in that area was a short one, it was
a lot of fun. Today, the need for that type of professional
is still there, and though not everyone can film a major
motion picture, there are plenty of jobs out there for
those who love filming and production.

Starting With A Smaller Company
My best friend from college still works in video production,
and she has a really great job. She loves it, and says
that she can not imagine doing anything else. Like most
in her field, she started at the bottom. She worked
for a smaller company in the tape library.
That meant basically that she copied whatever it was
they needed copies of, and stored all of the videos
for their projects. It was a far cry from the career
she wanted in video production, but she knew she needed
to start at the bottom and then go from there.
Large Video Production Company
Today, she works for a large video production company,
and she spends most of her time producing shoots and
talking with clients. She loves the fast paced nature
of her job, and she enjoys seeing simple ideas that
grow into something really magnificent.
They do a lot of corporate stuff, but they also do
many of the commercials that are local to her city,
as well as working with the major sporting teams in
the area. Though she could probably do bigger things
in other cities, she has no desire to move away for
that reason.
You don’t have to assist in commercials and other pieces
if you don’t want to however, and that is what is great
about video production. News casts always need people
with this type of education.
Always Start Small And Work Your Way Up
If you want to pursue a news career in production,
start out in a small market and work your way up. You
can also work for companies that film things like weddings
and other events.
Though not every one would love that type of work,
there are some who think that is the perfect video production
job for them. Learning the basics can take you into
any direction you want to go.
Video Production Course
You can learn the basics while you are working, or
go and complete a video production course and then look
for work in video production. If you work for a video
production company, starting in a low level capacity,
working in the mail room or other clerical tasks to
help pay for the video production course, then once
you complete the course, the people in the company know
you and you have one foot in the door to promotion.
Show your dedication to your work and tell anyone who
cares, especially your boss, that you are currently
doing a video production course, and then when a position
is available, you may be the first to be approached.
Make sure you have a portfolio of your best video work
on a DVD to give to your boss, whenever it is required.
Being prepared for success, is the better road to a
career in video production.

More Photography Facts....
How do I choose a photographer for my wedding?
First, get some recommendations
from people you know about different photographers
they have used. Friends and relatives who have had
good experiences with the photographers or studios
they have used should be more than eager to share
this information with you. After reviewing websites
and online portfolios, contact each studio or
photographer that you are interested.
Meet at their studio and look at samples of their work
in person, preferably with each party of the engaged
couple. Ask to see pictures from different weddings,
and if possible a full wedding. Doing so allows for
complete evaluation of photography styles and formats,
or even artistic impressions that each photographer
can offer you. Ask yourself if they share your artistic
vision while looking through their portfolio.
Do you agree with the styles they use? Is the quality
to your liking? Also, take note of how well you communicate
and interact with each photographer. Besides friends
and family, your photographer is the one person you
will be interacting with the most.
Feeling comfortable enough to communicate with them
during your wedding will lessen the stress of an already
hectic day. Once you have chosen a photographer whose
work you are pleased with, and whose personality is
compatible with your own, you can then discuss price
ranges.
