Watch Videos Online To Increase Your Knowledge

By Sylvia Adolvana

Watch videos online for entertainment and increase your skills with online courses. I like to visit online video sites like YouTube to watch funny videos and finding online courses for software I use on my computer.

I even watch videos on gardening, cooking and home improvement. If I need to know how to do a task around the home, I conduct a search for videos on the topic.

Free Online Courses

Some of the courses may be the complete online course for free, or it may include a couple of videos for free and then you have to run to the site to pay for the rest of the videos. This way the video creator can recoup some of the production costs.

I always like to search what is available on the video topic and then watch some of the free videos, read the offer for the rest of the videos on the website and decide if I wish to pay for the rest of the course.

If I can’t find what I need on YouTube, I enter the search topic on Google and find the videos I need on other sites. But whenever I like to watch videos, my first stop is YouTube.

Watching Free Online Movies

Although it has been possible to watch videos online for a long time, the advertising industry is only now getting hip to the commercial possibilities. For a while, they figured that if people watch free movies online, they would drive the film studios out of business.

I don’t think the film studios are anymore at ease with free online movies, but they are starting to realize that there is only so much they can do. Rather than fighting it, they are starting to try to find new ways to make money with the technology.

Funny Videos On YouTube

A lot of Internet viewers try to watch videos made by the big studios, but I think even more people are into watching independent movies. For everyone illegally downloading Spiderman, there are probably three or four people who watch funny videos on youtube made by some guy with his web cam.

There are a lot of ways to watch video clips from commercial movies, but downloading movies online is a little bit more difficult. You usually need a pretty fast connection, a lot of hard drive space, and a good bit of luck. After all, the laws are so draconian in this country that if you get caught downloading videos, it can completely bankrupt you.

Downloading Old Dr Who Episodes

One of my favorite things to do is to watch videos of old TV shows that aren’t available anymore. Although this is technically illegal, in general the laws aren’t enforced. I download Dr. Who movies off bit torrent all the time.

Many of the old episodes haven’t even been released, and a few of them have been lost, but there are still people uploading them on to the Internet. If Dr. Who fans could not watch videos online, we wouldn’t be able to see many of these great episodes. I think the BBC knows this and that is why they aren’t taking legal action to stop it.

It is also a lot of fun to watch videos on YouTube. The great thing about You Tube is that it costs nothing to post your movies, but once they are up, they can be seen all over the world. People put up political commentary, funny movies, or just footage of their vacations.

Entertaining Movie Clips And Online Courses

I sometimes spend hours watching entertaining movie clips on YouTube. I love the ones where they pull some funny stunts, although I try to avoid watching videos where people or animals get hurt. Among the millions of videos, there are some trash videos, most are far better than the funniest home video shows on TV!

I also watch videos for online courses, to increase my skills. If there is new software I have installed on my computer, I go to YouTube and search for videos on the software.

Educational Video Courses

More often than not, I find some fascinating courses, which are often much more detailed and informative than the educational videos on the software site. I have started to notice, many of the software companies now place their videos on YouTube to promote their software.

I find it is much easier to learn, when you watch someone using the software, completing a task, rather than reading text and try to imagine how the task can be accomplished. Seeing is believing when you can watch videos.
