Wedding Videographers Photography Shack Guide
Wedding Videographers Include Colour And Movement
By Louis Myrandle
Wedding videographers are an essential part of most
weddings these days. For most couples who got married
more than twenty years ago, most of them do not have
the option of being able to pop a video tape in the
VCR to watch a review of their wedding day.
But things today are very different and for most couples
who are in the midst of planning their wedding, selecting
videographers is just as important as choosing wedding
photographers. This allows them to have a DVD of their
special day that they can enjoy for many years to come.
Of course, also hiring a wedding videographer to chronicle
the event in video does add another expense to the wedding
budget and each couple must sit down and consider how
great a priority they place on videos of their weddings
parties as opposed to still photos only. The tradition
of having a wedding album of photographs to show off
and to thumb through is still very strong and is considered
essential by many couples.
The Younger Digital Generation
At the same time, the younger, "digital"
generation is much more used to making extensive use
of video technology for all kinds of applications, so
in that sense it is no wonder why wedding videographers
are more and more often being sought out. Of course,
there are also those who always strive to use the latest
and greatest in technological advances, so using videographers
is a must for such people.
There is no doubt that capturing details such as the
couple’s first dance, with the bride swirling across
the dance floor in the perfect wedding dress is better
suited for video than for still photography.
Wedding Photographers And Videographers At A Ceremony
At the same time, there are many moments during the
wedding and the reception that people like to have captured
in a singular photograph that can be framed and displayed.
As a result, guests are more frequently seeing both
wedding photographers and videographers circulating
around wedding ceremony sites and reception venues.
In order to save some money and try to skip hiring
a wedding videographer, couples might be tempted to
ask a friend or a family member to casually shoot the
videos of their wedding. However, this usually leads
to disappointment for a number of reasons. The main
reason is that the overall quality of amateur videos
is poor.
Higher Quality Video Equipment
Typically, a professional wedding videographer will
have higher quality video equipment than what is available
to the amateur videographer. With an amateur, this means
lighting will be very poor, sometimes making it hard
to even see who is in the picture, let alone being able
to capture important details such as the wedding cakes.
In addition, the sound is often very bad when low quality
equipment is used in large spaces, such as those used
for wedding receptions.
Another problem with asking a friend or a family member
to try to record the event on video is that the friend
is understandably drawn into conversations and celebrations
throughout the day.
A Professional Videographer Is Not Distracted
This makes it hard for them to be objective and to
circulate and catch all of what is going on. A wedding
videographer will have the advantage in this way because
they are able to move about the room and focus on important
happenings without being distracted.
In many cases, the work that is done by wedding videographers
results in some of the most cherished memories that
the newlyweds will have of their special day. During
the process of choosing a videographer for your wedding,
make sure to request many samples of their work to review
and be sure to get a list of other couples who have
hired this particular videographer.
Speak to them to get insights about his or her professionalism
during the wedding.

More Photography Facts....
What types of cameras are commonly used in wedding
photography?
There are three main types of cameras
used in wedding photography. They are 35mm cameras,
digital cameras, and medium format cameras. In this
digital age, 35mm is still a widely used camera for
wedding photography. These are used mainly for fast
action wedding shots. They are valued for their durability,
compactness, and ease of use.
Digital cameras have become much more popular, even
preferred for wedding photography. The quality of photos
is just good as film, there is no processing time, no
risk of damaging negatives, and photos can easily be
adjusted for a better outcome.
Medium Format cameras produce a negative that is up
to three times larger than one from a 35mm camera, without
a loss of detail. However, Medium Format cameras are
much larger than 35mm’s and digital cameras.
A fourth type of camera that may be used in a studio
for a pre-wedding shot is a Large Format camera. These
cameras are stationary due to their size and weight.
They are mainly used for commercial studio photography.
Although these cameras hold an excellent lens, the prices
for photos taken with this camera can be quite
pricey.
